Upsilon Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated was chartered January 16, 1991 in Oklahoma City, OK by fifteen African-American Registered Nurses. The induction and initiation ceremonies were held at O’Donahue Rehabilitation Center in Oklahoma City, OK. The Inaugural ceremony and reception were held at the Mary Mahoney Health Center in Nicoma Park, OK. Upon providing the impetus for organizing this chapter Karen Powell, formerly of the Indianapolis, Indiana chapter was elected as the first President of Upsilon Eta Chapter.

Upsilon Eta Chapter, Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Inc. is the 5th Chapter to be charted in our region. January 26, 1991 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma fifteen (15) African American registered nurses were proud to have their Induction and Initiation ceremonies held at O’Donahue Rehabilitation Center, located Oklahoma University Health Science Center.
The Mary Mahoney Health Center located in Nicoma Park, Oklahoma was the site chosen for the Inaugural Ceremony and Reception. The presence of now deceased Past Supreme Mary Helen Morris (1989-1993),Lambda Chi Chapter, National Organizer Mary L. Watkins, Zeta Chi Chapter and Middlesouth Regional Director Mary D. Garnett Rho Chi Chapter are still met with high regard for their legendary leadership.
Upon providing the impetus for organizing this chapter, Co-venor Soror Karen Powell, formerly an active member of Indianapolis, Indiana Eta Chi Chapter, was elected as the 1st Basileus of Upsilon Eta Chapter. Serving as Basileus after Soror Powell were Sorors: Carolyn Curry, Mary Buriss, Jewel Buckingham, C. Anita Jones, Dr. Donna Neal Thomas, Pearl M. Fidel, Dr Donna Neal Thomas and currently Pearl M. Fidel Serving a 3rd Term. Our Chapter total membership is 54.
